The Carolina Panthers came into existence in 1995 as an NFL expansion team. The Panthers are the second expansion team to win their first game. This game was against the Jacksonville Jaguars and was dubbed, “The Battle of the Big Cats”
The Panthers summer training is conducted at Wofford College in Spartenburg, SC. This is the owner Jerry Richardson’s Alma Mater.
Bill Goldberd was the first Panther cut from the team (ever). He later went on to have a successful WWF and WCW career.
In order to finance the creation of thier own stadium with out using tax payer’s money, the developers presold Panthers tickets as “Permanent Seat Licenses.”
The Carolina Panthers became the first expansion team to defeat the reigning Super Bowl champions when they defeated the 49ers.
